If the editing is for permissible purposes, such as enhancing family photos, creating educational materials, designing permissible products, or improving visual clarity for legitimate business, then it is generally permissible. However, if AI is used to create or promote images that are forbidden in Islam e.g., deepfakes for misinformation, images promoting indecency, idolatry, or deception, then it would be impermissible. The core principle is that tools are neutral. their permissibility is determined by how they are applied in alignment with Islamic values and Sharia.
