How to Get Started with Switchy

Updated on

Getting started with Switchy is pretty straightforward, and you can be up and running with your first smart link in just a few minutes. Here’s a simple guide to walk you through it:

🚨 Lifetime Deal Alert: Available Now on AppSumo! ⏳ Don’t Miss Out

1. Create Your Account and Workspace

  • Sign Up: First things first, you’ll need to create an account. If you’re looking for a great deal, keep an eye out for their lifetime offers, like the one often found on AppSumo.
  • Set Up Your Workspace: Once you’re in, the platform will guide you to create your first workspace. Think of this as your main organizing folder. If you have different brands or projects, you can create separate workspaces for each to keep things tidy.

2. Connect Your Custom Domain (Optional but Recommended)

  • Go to Settings: Head over to the ‘Settings’ section in your dashboard.
  • Add Custom Domain: You’ll find an option to add your custom domain name. This is a crucial step if you want your links to look professional and branded (e.g., yourbrand.co/product). Switchy provides clear instructions on how to set this up with your domain registrar.
  • Why it Matters: Using your own domain makes your links more trustworthy and instantly recognizable to your audience.

3. Create Your First Shortened Link

  • Click “Create a New Link”: This button is usually prominent on your dashboard.
  • Paste Your URL: Pop in the long URL you want to shorten.
  • Customize (Optional but Recommended):
    • Shorten: Switchy will automatically create a short URL.
    • Custom Back-Half: You can customize the end part of the URL (e.g., yourbrand.co/product-guide).
    • Social Preview: This is where you can change the title, description, and image that shows up when someone shares your link on social media. Make it compelling!
    • Retargeting Pixels: If you’ve already set up your pixel integrations (Facebook, Google Ads, etc. – we’ll get to that in a moment), select which pixels you want to fire when someone clicks this link. This is how you build those custom audiences for future ads.
    • Advanced Options: Explore features like A/B testing, link expiration, or geo-targeting if they fit your needs.
  • Get Your New Link: Once you’re happy, click to generate your new, optimized link. You can then easily copy and share it wherever you need.

4. Set Up Pixel Integrations

  • Go to “Integrations”: In your Switchy dashboard, look for the ‘Integrations’ section.
  • Connect Your Ad Platforms: Here, you’ll find options to connect various advertising platforms like Facebook Ads, Google Ads, LinkedIn, etc..
  • Add Your Pixel IDs: Follow the instructions to add your pixel IDs from these platforms. This step is usually very straightforward, often just requiring you to paste a code. Once connected, these pixels can be applied to any new or existing links you create.

5. Explore Smart Pages

  • Go to “Smart Pages”: Find this section in your navigation.
  • Create a New Smart Page: Choose from a variety of templates or start from scratch.
  • Customize Your Content: Use the drag-and-drop editor to add links, text, images, and videos. This is your chance to create a branded landing page for your social media bio or other multi-link needs.

That’s it! In just a few steps, you’ll have transformed your basic links into powerful marketing assets that not only look great but also give you valuable data and retargeting opportunities.
